Jakarta, 30 October 2025 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) launched the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan (Renstra), a comprehensive guide to achieving its vision as a world-class university that excels in the fields of education, science, technology and humanities. This Strategic Plan document not only outlines the direction of academic development and governance, but also highlights UNJ's commitment to sustainability, including the implementation of energy efficiency standards in the renovation and construction of new facilities, in line with government regulations.

The 2025-2029 UNJ Strategic Plan was prepared as a response to global dynamics, technological advances, and society's demands for quality higher education. With its new status as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH) since 14 August 2024 (based on PP 31 of 2024), UNJ has greater freedom in managing academics, finances and human resources, which encourages a more independent governance transformation.

One of the main focuses in the UNJ development framework is "Good Governance Excellence" and "Academic Excellence". In an effort to realize these two aspects, UNJ explicitly plans the construction and development of facilities. The Strategic Plan document (page 65) states, "Greening Education Based Curriculum Innovation" which integrates sustainability principles across all subjects and study programs, including "green building design and energy management" in engineering programs. This shows the direction of UNJ's policy which not only focuses on sustainable education, but also on environmentally friendly campus operational practices.

Although the Strategic Plan document does not directly detail specific government regulations regarding energy efficiency, UNJ's commitment to "greening education" and infrastructure development that supports sustainability implicitly indicates alignment with government policy regarding energy efficiency in the building sector. The construction of new buildings, such as 4 SFD towers which function as laboratory space, classrooms and administration rooms (page 30), as well as plans to develop Edu-Technopark facilities in Duren Sawit (page 30), are expected to integrate energy efficiency standards.

Improved infrastructure and facilities, including education and training centers with the latest technology that supports the development of skills in the fields of green building and sustainability (page 66), will be the backbone of the implementation of this energy efficiency policy. In this way, UNJ not only produces graduates who are competent and competitive, but also contributes to sustainable development through campus management practices that are responsible for the environment and energy.

UNJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Komarudin, M.Si., in the introduction to the Strategic Plan (page 3), emphasized that the preparation of this strategic plan takes into account changes in government regulations and competitive global challenges. This strengthens the signal that energy efficiency policies, which may not be specifically mentioned in the list of general regulations in the Strategic Plan, remain an important concern in the future direction of UNJ's development and operations.

The 2025-2029 UNJ Strategic Plan is clear evidence of UNJ's commitment to not only excel in the Tridharma of Higher Education, but also to be a pioneer in creating a sustainable campus environment and contributing to national energy efficiency efforts.
