In alignment with the UNJ Healthy Campus Guidelines 2025, the university actively incorporates the use of drought-tolerant plants and efficient drip irrigation systems across its grounds. This initiative is a core component of the university's water conservation program, as detailed in Chapter V (Campus Health Program) under the Water Governance section.

The strategic shift to water-wise gardening is central to UNJ's vision for a resilient and responsible campus. By selecting vegetation that naturally thrives in Indonesia's climate, the university effectively reduces its reliance on excessive and constant watering, leading to considerable water savings. This proactive approach ensures that the aesthetic and ecological value of the campus is maintained without straining local water resources.

Furthermore, UNJ's dedication to water efficiency is clearly visible in the development of its Green Open Spaces (RTH). These areas are not merely decorative; they are engineered to serve a crucial dual purpose. The RTH spaces act as effective water catchment areas, aiding in groundwater replenishment and flood mitigation. By designing these spaces using adaptive local vegetation, UNJ optimizes natural resource management.

This comprehensive green initiative is tightly linked to the university's overarching developmental targets. The current effort is pushing to increase the proportion of Green Open Spaces to a minimum of 30% of the total campus area, as mandated by Chapter II (Healthy Campus Principles and Values). This expansion ensures a healthier environment while regularly embedding water conservation into the physical infrastructure of the university.
