Jakarta, 24 August, 2024 – A crucial inclusive movement is being championed by Jakarta State University (UNJ) through its organization, Relawan Disabilities (Redis). Redis, which functions as an organization providing training for the public, including Persons with Disabilities, is calling on all segments of society to join various programs that promote equality, accessibility, and empowerment for all individuals.

The training programs offered by Redis are highly relevant and enrich participants' skill sets. One of the key programs is Bisindo Training, where participants are taught the basics of Indonesian Sign Language (Bisindo) by competent Deaf teachers. Additionally, there is Assistive Technology Training which covers how to use screen readers, hearing aids, and other technologies to support daily activities.

Beyond technical skills, Redis also focuses on the aspects of support and assistance. The organization hosts Mentorship Training to help participants understand how to be effective companions for individuals with disabilities through empathy, emotional support, and helping them reach their maximum potential. Redis also runs a Disability Mentoring program where volunteers accompany Persons with Disabilities in various activities, such as education, work, or social events.

By participating in these programs, attendees will gain comprehensive skills, ranging from sign language to assistive technology, all guided by experts in the field. Redis emphasizes that joining this movement is part of the effort to create a fairer and more equitable society.

Redis UNJ invites the public: "Come join the various programs of Volunteers with Disabilities, a movement that champions equality, accessibility, and empowerment for all individuals, without exception!". For those interested in joining the program and becoming part of this inclusive movement, further information can be accessed via the Instagram account @relawandisabilitiesunj or email redisunj@gmail.com.
