Jakarta, 8 December 2025 – Six Legal Entity State Universities (PTN-BH) originating from the ex-Institute for Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) officially started the initiation of a consortium through the implementation of the PTN-BH Ex-IKIP Communication and Synergy Forum towards a World Class University. This historic meeting was held on the 8th Floor of the Syafei Building, Jakarta State University (UNJ), which acted as host.

This forum presented the deputy chancellor for rankings and related representatives from six universities, namely: Indonesian Education University (UPI), Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Semarang State University (UNNES), Padang State University (UNP), Surabaya State University (UNESA), Malang State University (UM).

Deputy Chancellor III UNJ, Prof. Dr. Fahrurrozi, M.Pd., in his speech emphasized that this meeting was a concrete step towards the formation of the PTN-BH Ex-IKIP Consortium. The aim is to build a solid collaborative ecosystem to mutually support quality improvement and efforts to achieve international rankings.

"We realize that our strength lies in synergy. The formation of this consortium is a priority to ensure that every PTN-BH Ex-IKIP can share the best resources, experience and strategies so that we can all jump together into the global arena," said Prof. Fahrurrozi.

The Chancellor of UNJ also welcomed this initiation. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts, especially in building an adaptive and competitive academic culture. "The public's perception and mindset regarding university ranking competitions must be a warning to us. This is not just a competition, but a drive to improve the quality and reputation of our institutions in a sustainable manner," stressed the Chancellor of UNJ.

To provide strategic guidance, this forum invited Dr. Ir. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M.Eng, from IPB University, as resource person. Prof. Anas emphasized that the success of the consortium really depends on TRUST or the close trust that exists between its members.

Next, Prof. Anas explained the five main compositions that PTN-BH Ex-IKIP must focus on in achieving the title of World Class University:

Governance: Characterized by the formation of a dedicated task force and funding for ranking issues.

Focus: Strengthening the University Niche, namely the uniqueness and specific advantages of the university.

Branding: Building and maintaining a strong academic reputation in the eyes of the world.

Collaboration: Actively carrying out domestic and international cooperation.

Patience: Patience, consistency and sustainability are required in implementing long-term strategies.

The event closed with an in-depth discussion session regarding operational mechanisms, organizational structure, and the initial work program of the PTN-BH Ex-IKIP Consortium, marking the start of a new chapter of strategic collaboration between educational groups in Indonesia.
