Jakarta, 30 October 2025 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) is increasingly demonstrating its commitment to realizing the "Smart and Green Campus" vision through various strategic initiatives. Apart from utilizing renewable energy, UNJ has also developed the innovative application "BAS IBMS" (Building Automation System - Integrated Building Management System) to optimize energy management throughout the campus area.

On June 20 2025, UNJ officially retired 776 units of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), sourced from the Bakaru Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA). This certificate, issued by the TIGR Registry operated by APX, Inc., confirms UNJ's efforts to meet corporate renewable energy targets. This step is an integral part of UNJ's sustainability strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and promote the use of clean energy.

Furthermore, in an effort to achieve optimal energy efficiency, UNJ has implemented the "BAS IBMS" application. This application is designed to monitor energy consumption in real-time throughout campus buildings, with a control center (Command Center) located on Pustikom floor 1. Through BAS IBMS, vital data such as electricity usage, room temperature, lighting levels and equipment performance can be analyzed comprehensively.

Advanced data analysis features on BAS IBMS enable UNJ to identify areas with the highest levels of energy waste. This information provides an important basis for data-based decision making for facility maintenance and future energy efficiency planning. By integrating this technology, UNJ not only increases the transparency of energy management, but also ensures more economical, effective and sustainable use of resources.

UNJ's double steps in adopting renewable energy and developing a sophisticated energy monitoring system show the institution's seriousness in building an environmentally friendly and smart campus environment. It is hoped that this initiative can be an example for other educational institutions in encouraging the transition towards a greener and more sustainable future.
