Jakarta, 30 October 2025 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) is increasingly serious in realizing its commitment to be a sustainable campus with a Net Zero Emission target by 2045. This commitment is clearly stated in the Decree of the Chancellor of Jakarta State University Number 1637/UN39/HK.02/2025 concerning Guidelines for Managing a Healthy Campus at Jakarta State University which was just established on 3 October 2025.

This guidance document is UNJ's strategic basis for implementing various comprehensive energy efficiency programs. Based on these guidelines, UNJ will focus on several main strategies, including:

Periodic Energy Audits: Carrying out routine inventories of energy sources and consumption, as well as efficiency analyzes to identify savings opportunities. Energy Saving Equipment Replacement: Replacing conventional equipment with energy saving technology, such as LED lights, inverter ACs, and Energy Star labeled equipment, as well as setting electricity operating hours. Implementing Smart Building: Implementing an intelligent building management system for automatic optimization of energy consumption. Increasing Renewable Energy Utilization: Encouraging the use of clean energy sources, especially solar panel installations (Solar PV) to supply electricity some buildings, with a target of at least 20% of campus electricity consumption coming from renewable energy.

These steps are not only supported by technical aspects, but are also strengthened through strengthening internal policies, education and energy saving campaigns for all campus residents, as well as integrating efficiency principles into infrastructure governance.

Chancellor of Jakarta State University, Prof. Dr. Komarudin, M.Si, in his foreword to the guidelines emphasized that the preparation of these guidelines is a concrete manifestation of UNJ's commitment to creating a healthy, inclusive, environmentally friendly and sustainable higher education environment, in line with UNJ's vision as a center of excellence for education, research and community service, as well as supporting the sustainable development agenda (Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs).

With a comprehensive and collaborative approach, involving institutional policies, adequate budgeting, and partnerships with various parties, UNJ hopes to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Net Zero Emission program and make a real contribution to Indonesia's national target of becoming carbon neutral.
