Jakarta, 6 March 2025 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) reiterates its commitment to environmental sustainability by setting an ambitious target: achieving 100% renewable energy to transition to a sustainable campus and Net Zero Emission by 2045. This visionary step was reinforced by the inauguration of two UNJ Student Facility Development (SFD) project buildings by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), which carries the cutting-edge concept of Smart and Green Building.

The inauguration of these buildings marks the start of a new era of environmentally friendly infrastructure at UNJ. SFD buildings are designed to high energy efficiency standards through a range of integrated technologies. Key features include:

Maximum utilization of natural lighting and smart ventilation to reduce dependence on electricity.Installation of solar panels (PLTS) as a source of clean energy on campus.Integration of an energy management system based on Building Automation System (BAS) and Integrated Building Management System (IBMS), which enables real-time energy monitoring and control for optimal efficiency.

This step is not only a symbol of architectural innovation, but also a learning model for the entire UNJ academic community in applying the principles of clean energy and efficiency. In line with this commitment, the Directorate of Resources and Procurement of Goods and Services at UNJ has actively held a "Workshop on Implementing Energy Saving in Using Campus Facilities" in Tower A SFD.

This activity, which aims to prepare Human Resources (HR) to support energy saving policies, is part of UNJ's long-term program for effective, efficient and sustainable energy management. The workshop focused on the principles of energy savings in buildings, as well as practices for using and monitoring campus facilities. This underlines that efforts to achieve Net Zero Emissions do not only depend on technology, but also on the awareness and active participation of all facility users.

With a target of 100% renewable energy, UNJ strengthens its role as a pioneer university for green education in Indonesia that holistically combines advanced technology, progressive institutional policies and increased environmental awareness in one vision of sustainability. UNJ is committed to becoming a benchmark for other universities in energy transition and climate change mitigation.
