Jakarta, 27 October 2024 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) continues to show its commitment to sustainable campus development by encouraging environmentally friendly transportation systems in the campus environment. This effort is carried out through the provision of various facilities and the implementation of policies that support green mobility for the academic community.

As part of the sustainable campus initiative, UNJ provides comfortable and safe bicycle parking areas and pedestrian paths throughout the Rawamangun campus area. These facilities are designed to encourage students and education staff to prefer walking or cycling when doing activities in the campus area.

Apart from that, UNJ has also implemented a bicycle and pedestrian mobility plan as a strategic guide in creating an inclusive, healthy and sustainable mobility system.

To support the use of low-emission transportation, UNJ has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that can be utilized by electric vehicle users. The university also provides a special parking area for energy efficient vehicles and electric vehicles as a form of appreciation for the contribution of the academic community in reducing the carbon footprint.

These steps are in line with UNJ's commitment to play an active role in reducing carbon emissions, supporting environmentally friendly transportation options, and supporting the achievement of national goals in realizing sustainable urban mobility.

Through these policies and facilities, UNJ hopes to be an example for other universities in implementing green campus principles and contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 11th goal, namely Sustainable Cities and Communities.
