Jakarta, 30 October 2024 - If UNJ is committed to sustainability and energy efficiency, they can integrate Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 14 of 2021 into their internal policies, especially for renovation and new construction projects. Here are some ways to relate:

Procurement of Energy Using Equipment with SKEM Certificate/Energy Saving Label:

UNJ Policy: UNJ can create an internal policy that requires all new energy-using equipment (such as air conditioning, lights, water pumps, etc.) purchased or installed in renovation and new construction projects to have an Energy Saving Certificate or Energy Saving Mark Label in accordance with the provisions of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 14 of 2021. Relation to News: This directly supports the objectives of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation to increase energy consumption efficiency and protect consumers (in this case, UNJ as an institution) by ensuring the use of equipment that has been tested and certified as energy efficient.

Energy Efficiency Based Building Planning and Design:

UNJ Policy: In the planning and design of new buildings or major renovations, UNJ can adopt green building principles which include the use of energy-saving equipment, optimal natural lighting design, good thermal insulation and efficient air conditioning systems. This policy can explicitly mention compliance with energy efficiency standards set by the government. Link to News: Even though the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation focuses on equipment, its spirit is energy conservation. By adopting energy-saving designs, UNJ indirectly drives demand for equipment that meets SKEM, and ensures that the environment in which the equipment operates also supports energy efficiency.

Training and Socialization:

UNJ Policy: UNJ can provide training and outreach to procurement staff, project teams and facility users regarding the importance of energy efficiency and how to choose equipment that complies with SKEM standards and energy saving labels as regulated in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation. Link to News: This is part of the guidance and supervision efforts mentioned in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation (Article 20), of which the dissemination of information to the public (in this case, the UNJ academic community) is an important part.

Energy Audit and Performance Evaluation:

UNJ Policy: UNJ can implement a policy to carry out regular energy audits in newly renovated or constructed buildings, as well as evaluate the energy performance of equipment that has been installed to ensure that they continue to operate efficiently and in accordance with expected standards. Link to News: This is in line with the spirit of supervision in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation (Articles 21 and 22) which emphasizes the conformity of the SKEM mark/energy saving label with actual energy performance through sample tests.

By adopting these policies, UNJ not only complies with government regulations but also contributes to national energy conservation efforts, reduces operational costs, and creates a more sustainable campus environment.
