Jakarta, 30 October 2025 – Jakarta State University (UNJ) has again demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by achieving renewable energy targets. Even though UNJ's total electricity usage was recorded at 943,019 KWH, part of this energy need has been met through certified renewable sources.

Based on the "TIGR Registry Certificate of Retirement" document dated June 20 2025, UNJ has officially stopped using 776 units of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This certificate is part of the Tradable Instruments for Global Renewables (TIGR) system operated by APX, Inc. The termination of these RECs was carried out on behalf of the Jakarta State University with the aim of "Meeting the Company's Renewable Energy Goals."

The retired RECs came from the Bakaru Hydroelectric Project, a Run-of-River type hydroelectric power plant. PT PLN (Persero) acted as the TIGRs account holder who carried out this termination. This confirms the collaborative efforts between UNJ and PLN in supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

The TIGR Registry system itself is designed to meet RE100 best practice guidelines and CDP standards in the procurement and reporting of renewable energy purchases. Thus, UNJ's steps not only contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, but also demonstrate compliance with global sustainability standards.

This achievement is clear evidence of UNJ's commitment to supporting the development of renewable energy in Indonesia, as well as providing an example for other institutions to invest in a greener future.
