Jakarta, 24 August 2024 — The Indonesian Red Cross Voluntary Corps, Jakarta State University Unit (KSR PMI Unit UNJ) is carrying out the Climate Crisis Awareness Program, a training and education program aimed at increasing public awareness of the issue of climate change. This activity was held on Saturday, August 24 2024 at PMI East Jakarta, Cililitan Kramat Jati, and SD IT Al Muhajirin.

This program is an initiative of the Human Resources Development Division (PSDM) KSR PMI UNJ Unit for the 2023–2024 period, as a concrete form of student contribution in facing the increasingly real challenge of the climate crisis. This activity was attended by 25 participants from the surrounding community, with a series of events including opening, training and closing sessions.

In this training, participants received material regarding the causes, impacts and steps to prevent climate change, as well as the application of green skills in everyday life. Through an interactive approach and group discussions, participants are invited to understand how human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation and waste management contribute to increasing greenhouse gas emissions which worsen global warming.

The chief organizer of the activity explained that this program was part of the KSR PMI UNJ Unit's commitment to educate and encourage the public to care more about the environment. "We hope that through this activity, people can understand the real impact of climate change and start implementing environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives," he said.

KSR PMI UNJ Unit as a humanitarian organization under the auspices of the Indonesian Red Cross and Jakarta State University, continues to strive to carry out an active role in the social and environmental fields, in line with the Basic Principles of the International Red Cross Movement and the spirit of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

With the Climate Crisis Awareness Program, it is hoped that a society will be born that is more aware, resilient and responsible for the environment, and can contribute to reducing the impact of the climate crisis in the future.
