Jakarta, 30 October 2024 - A team of lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering, Jakarta State University (UNJ) implemented a Community Service (P2M) program in Muara Gembong District, Bekasi Regency. This activity, which focuses on providing clean water and repairing the ceilings of residents' houses, aims to improve the quality of life of the local community.

Based on an initial survey conducted last June, the P2M team found that access to clean water and adequate housing conditions were still the main problems in the area.

"The survey results show that 70% of residents have difficulty getting clean water, while 60% of houses have damaged ceilings or none at all." Said Dr. Arris Maulana, P2M team coordinator (24/7).

Responding to these findings, the lecturer team designed a solution in the form of installing a simple water filtration system and training in ceiling repairs using affordable local materials. The program implementation lasted for two weeks, involving several active UNJ Engineering students and 50 local residents.

The inauguration of the program was carried out on Wednesday (24/7) by.... Muara Gembong, Mr.... In his speech, he said, "We really appreciate the contribution of the UNJ team. This program not only provides short-term solutions, but also transfers knowledge to our community."

The success of this program is clear evidence of the contribution of universities in improving community welfare through the application of appropriate science and technology.
