These policies encompass the ethical procurement of food and supplies, the safe management of waste and hazardous materials, and the reduction of plastic use and single-use items. All these policies apply not only to the university’s internal activities but also consistently extend to outsourced services and the entire supply chain. This initiative reflects UNJ’s dedication to building a sustainable campus ecosystem that integrates environmental and social responsibility into every aspect of resource management and operations.

UNJ as a body have a policy on ethical sourcing of food and supplies

The UNJ's policy on ethical food and equipment procurement aligns with the Healthy Campus principles as outlined in the "Nutrition and Food Safety" component of Rector's Decree No. 1637, page 35. UNJ emphasizes the importance of providing nutritious, safe, and ethically sound food through monitoring food ingredients, implementing hygiene and sanitation practices, and training canteen managers. This approach ensures that every meal consumed by the academic community is free from biological, chemical, or physical hazards, while also supporting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle on campus. Thus, the policy reflects UNJ's commitment to being a role model in responsible, healthy, and ethical procurement practices.
